Frequently Asked Questions
Text appears broken or unreadable.
Try changing the file encoding option in the sidebar. Most modern files work with Automatic or UTF-8. Older Korean text files created on Windows may require the Windows Korean option.
Can MergeLine compare image or binary files?
MergeLine is a text comparison tool. If you select an image or binary file, the app shows a friendly message explaining that the selected file is not a text file.
Are compared file contents uploaded to a server?
No. MergeLine processes comparisons locally on your Mac. Compared file contents and pasted text are not uploaded to external servers.
Can I delete recent sessions?
Yes. You can delete items from the recent sessions list inside the app.
Why does the app need file access?
MergeLine is a sandboxed macOS app. It can access only files and folders you explicitly select. File access is needed to open selected files, save merged changes, and export HTML reports to locations you choose.
